I love horror but when I try to research by reading or watching horror themed media I get too scared and can't continue. Such a wimp...

I was really touched by the first four lines. I am blessed to live by the ocean but, no matter how many times I see it, it is always breath-taking to see the endless blue extending past the horizon. The sight of the sea or forest really does set your spirit free and I like the way you portrayed it.

CW - Oh goodness the waiting is indeed terrible. I spent the past 6 years waiting for George R.R. Martin to come out with his new book. I was ecstatic to finally get my hands on it but, after such a long wait, anything less than unicorns springing from the pages would cause me disappointment. An even worse alternative would be like Robert Jordan who died halfway through his projected 10 book series. There were many very unhappy fans from that. I've read a couple pieces from the authors you ...

Haha yes, my professor tells me that Nietzche had pretty much gone insane from syphilis at the time he wrote Twilight of the Idols. I think that adds an element of horror to my mind. The ramblings of a mad man? What's not to love! I am happy to hear that about King's work and am now looking forward to it with more relish. I was hardly unnerved at all during Firestarter but I'm told that that wasn't really King at his best horror. I have had the fortune of reading Frankenstein but not the o...

I've been wanting to read Martel for a while but the stack of books in the corner of my room has become like a nasty weed that just doesn't seem to stop growing! I'll have to pick him up when I've cut the stack down to size (and return the couple dozen books I've borrowed over the last year....or 3....hehe...). As for what I am currently reading, I've got Twilight of the Idols by Nietzsche (I really need to round out my knowledge of philosophy) and a collection of stories by H.P. Lovecraft. I...

I think the initial fear of that red ink is bad but, when considered in hindsight, a blank paper is even worse from an educational perspective. And thank you for the welcome! My scary puppy and I are happy to be here!

One of the first times I wrote creatively was for a 5th grade class project. We had to make a short story about a hero who saved the day in some way. My brain went into overdrive and I began to throw a whole mess of things ranging from X-Men to Thunder Cats to Sonic the Hedgehog. It was incredibly fun and I, in my young mind, thought I had a real winner. When the teacher eventually handed the papers back I was excited to see what she thought of my hodgepodge story. Other kids around me got ...
